RICHARD PAYNTING
Former Director NPD Bose, CTO, Klipsch, USA
Richard served as CTO Klipsch Audio Technologies, where he was responsible for product innovation and design engineering for all Klipsch market segments until his retirement mid 2008. Prior to Klipsch he was CTO for Helix Technologies for three years, and Director of new product concepts at Bose Corp for 8 years where his team developed the LifeStyle music and Wave Radio systems. Richard also managed product development and operations groups in Europe and Asia for several ODMs.
Richard spent many years working to improve product development processes as a member of the Center for Quality Management. CQM is an active not for profit peer to peer networked learning community, with members from industry and the universities. In the late 80s and early 90s Richard was their director of development where he worked on the development of their widely used product definition process Concept Engineering. Richard won the CQM’s Ray Stata award for outstanding contribution in 1996.
Richard was the founder and a Principal of Return on Innovation (ROI), which consulted worldwide in the areas of research, development, and marketing; with clients such as Hewlett Packard, Cochlear, Teradyne and American Power Conversion. He developed and presented a Commercialization program for Melbourne University, and was an invited speaker at MIT, and the US Federal Reserve. He also served as an advisor to the Gordon Institute at Tufts University, and was a board member of the Society of Concurrent Product Development .
Richard repatriated from the USA to Australia in August 2008 and now lives in Bendigo
